Why do baseball players celebrate like every game is the world series?

Why do baseball players celebrate like every game is the world series? In almost every game they all gather on the field and celebrate like it is the world series. Why? Has it always been like that? I cannot remember baseball players acting like that back in the 1990's when I watched baseball.
